It’s an excellent leather jacket, probably the best one I’ve ever bought.

Weird Bunching Behind the Collar

The leather on this jacket is awesome. The weight is substantial, which I loved. The lining feels tough, comfortable, and decently warm.

However, as another review mentioned, there is odd bunching behind the collar on the back of the neck. This is often called “collar roll” in suit and sport jacket tailoring. This is due to the shoulder shape of the jacket not matching that of the wearer.

I exchanged the jacket the day after I got it for a size small. I have worn a medium in every one of the other six Schott jackets that I own, but not the 550 apparently. I really hope the small works because everything else about the jacket is perfect.

Height: 71 inches

Stomach at widest (over shirt @ belly button): 37.5 inches

Awesome jacket

Great quality, comfortable, great looking (color is unique & brilliant) and compliments just about every time I wear it. I have several Schott jackets and this is my favorite.

Amazing Jacket

I’m fortunate to own several Schott jackets, and once I discovered their line and perfected the fit, I haven’t looked elsewhere. This particular jacket fits exactly as described, thanks to Schott’s reliable fitting guide. At 6’1” and 210 lbs, I went with an XL, and it’s perfect—comfortably accommodating a thin hoodie or sweater underneath.

The tapered fit is excellent, and the longer sleeves are both functional and ideal for riding. The color is truly eye-catching and stands out from my usual black or brown options, drawing plenty of compliments. Another exceptional piece from Schott!

Almost

First, the jacket is solidly built and the color is great as is expected with anything from Schott.

Unfortunately, this jacket seems to have a design flaw. Behind the neck, across the shoulders, the leather flips up, creating a fold of leather that prevents the jacket from draping smoothly when it is worn. Attempting to simply pull the leather flat did not work. There is too much leather in this area with nowhere for it to go..

I cannot upload photos with this review, but if you look closely at the stock image of the back of the jacket, near the neckline, you can see the area in question. It's not a smooth line from shoulder to neck and its worse in person. It is an approximately 1/2-inch deep fold of leather.

After receiving the first one of these, I notified Schott of this issue and they confirmed "something isn't right" with it and I should return or exchange it. I exchanged the jacket for another of the same and the replacement jacket had the exact same issue. Since I could no longer attribute the flaw as possibly being a one-off construction problem, I returned the jacket for a refund. Schott customer service is top shelf and the whole process was easy.

Regarding fit, I am 5' 11" and 190-200 lbs. With a 43-inch chest, I am right at the cusp of a L or XL. I got a L which allowed for me to comfortably wear a t-shirt under the jacket and that is all I'd ever wear under it anyway. The jacket fit snug like a glove and sleeve length was perfect. If I wanted to wear a hoodie or sweater under the jacket, I'd need a XL.

Exceptionally crafted and true to size!

Exceptionally crafted and true to size!
I an 5’11 and 195 pounds with a 45 inch chest and the XL fits perfectly with enough room for a long sleeved shirt or sweater underneath..The jacket is built with extra room and mobility in the back of the shoulders. The color is more of a medium brown or brandy than the darker brown pictured, but expect this will darken a bit with age. Quality and durability are unmatched!

I've been hunting for a leather jacket for years...the hunt may be over.

I am very particular about what I buy. Doesn't matter what it is. I put a lot of research and time into it because I'm the kind of person that wants to buy something once and be done with it.

I have been purchasing and returning many leather jackets from Schott (and other places) over the years. All of the Schott jackets were fantastic quality. Sometimes the fit wasn't right or maybe it didn't suit me. For the price you can't blame me, these things are expensive. I got to say thanks to Schott for being awesome with the returns and allowing me the opportunity to do that.

I kind of viewed this hunt as you'll know when you've found the one. This may be it.

I ordered this jacket initially in a large. I returned it and ordered a medium. My chest is 40", I got a bit of a gut (I'm working on it) and I weigh about 200 lbs at 6 feet tall. I can zip it up snug with a hoodie underneath. The medium is a solid fit.

The leather has a wonderful pullup with a waxy feel. It reveals a lot of textures and imperfections in the hide which adds a lot of character. This jacket is not stiff and feels great out of the box.

If I were to order a custom jacket from somewhere this jacket meets those expectations. The only exception might be I would want a cotton liner. The polyester liner isn't bad, cotton is just my preference.

So now I'm sitting here looking at this jacket with no intention of putting it back in the box.

Thank you for reading. Happy hunting.
